Cloisters Library and Archives Fall 2003/ Spring 2004 internship
The Cloisters Library and Archives offers internship to library students interested in art librarianship to help with the library backlog and the library retrospective conversion.
Projects include: searching the RLIN database; downloading records to
the local OPAC (INNOPAC); adding item records; performing copy cataloging, etc.
Requirements: interest and/or experience in the field of art history; familiarity with MARC format; basic cataloging knowledge; etc.
Knowledge of a foreign language (French, German, Italian, Spanish, Flemish)
is a plus
The internship is a not paid position. However the interns will have
employers' privileges such as free admittance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art
galleries, Museum stores discount, and many more.
In addition, interns will be invited to libraries' meetings within the Museum network
and to other activities in the NY art libraries organizations.
Hours and schedules are flexible.
Students who want to take the internship as a graduate course should
arrange it with their advisors, according to Library Schools policies and
procedures.
