Yes, at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. The artists' books are accessioned objects within the Museum's collection and are cared for within the auspice of the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts. The Achenbach is responsible for works on paper; this includes artists' books and rare books as well as traditional prints. The Curator in Charge, Robert Flynn Johnson, is directly responsible for the artists' books and recently published a catalog in conjunction with an artists' book exhibition: "Artists' Books in the Modern Era 1870-2000:
The Reva and David Logan Collection of Illustrated Books."
A further note - the books are cataloged into the Museum's object database as opposed to standard library cataloging.

Subject: [ARLIS-L] artists' books in museums
Is anyone aware of any institutions where the responsibility of the artists'
book collection falls within a curatorial department, rather than the
library? Also, if anyone knows of any literature that discusses this issue
(of artists' books in curatorial departments), I would love to know about
it.
Many thanks,
