One of the workshops during the Baltimore conference will feature three cataloging policy experts from the Library of Congress. Robert Ewald will speak on descriptive issues. Robert Hiatt will speak on headings for works of art. After lunch, Milicent Wewerka will speak on subject headings for art. Each of the policy makers has been with LC for at least 30 years and with the Cataloging Policy and Support Office for a number of years.
Bob Hiatt is the editor of Cataloging Service Bulletin and was a guest at Cataloging Problems Discussion Group a few years ago (Philadelphia) when we were discussing uniform titles for named works of art. Bob Ewald was one of the speakers at the ARLIS/NA manuscript facsimile workshop in the early 1980s.
I hope you will consider registering for this workshop -- it is a fine opportunity to take advantage of Baltimore's proximity to the LC people who guide cataloging policy.
Fuller information under "workshops" at http://arlis2003.library.jhu.edu/2003ConfProgDesc.html
Cataloging Problems Discussion Group will follow the workshop (at approximately 4 pm) and the LC folks have been invited to stay for CPDG. (CPDG is not part of the workshop and attendance is dependent only on general conference registration.)
If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.
