ARLIS colleagues,
One of my faculty wants to make use of videos and dvd's for her survey art history classes next semester. The text she is using is Marilyn Stokstad's ART HISTORY, but she wants to supplement the lecture format with videos/dvd's on specific topics (mostly non-western)
Can any of you recommend your favorite titles (dvd or video) for any of the following areas:
European Pre-historic (small sculpture, rock shelter paintings, Skara Brae and caves of Lascaux)
Ancient Near Eastern (ziggurats, Babylon, Persepolis)
Egyptian (anything and everything on Egyptian art and culture)
Agean (Crete, Minoan, Knossos, Schliemann's excavations, grave circles)
Classical
Byzantine (Hagia Sophia, Icons, Ravenna)
Islamic
Indian thru 1100 ce
Chinese
Thanks in advance for your expertise. Please reply to me directly and I'll summarize the recommendations for the listserv.
