Dear ARLIS listserv,
I am the Collections Researcher at the Saint Louis Art
Museum and am also working towards my MLS. I am
working on a research paper for my class on special
libraries and have chosen the topic of art museum
libraries.
I thought a good place to start my research was to get
the insights of art museum librarians. If any art
museum librarians would be so kind to take the time to
share his or her ideas on a few topics, I would be
most grateful.
For this paper, I would like to focus on the ways in
which museum libraries serve the research needs of
museum staff (as opposed to the public services many
museum libraries also provide). I am interested in
what makes museum libraries unique in terms of
collections (such as auction catalogs and databases,
exhibition catalogs, pamphlet files, artist’s books)
and services (such as interlibrary loan).
I know that this is still very broad but I would
appreciate any insights or suggestions you might have.
Please respond to me off-list at [log in to unmask]
Thanks,
Beth Hinrichs
