Arts and Humanities in Higher Education is a major new journal just launched
in June 2002 to serve the community of arts and humanities educators
internationally, by publishing significant opinion and research into
contemporary issues of teaching and learning within the domain.
Aims and Scope
Arts and Humanities in Higher Education will publish articles, reviews and
scholarly comment relating to the arts and humanities in higher education.
The journal seeks to:
· Publish high quality articles that bring critical research to the
fore and stimulate debate.
· Serve the community of arts and humanities educators
internationally, by publishing significant opinion and research into
contemporary issues of teaching and learning within the domain. These will
include enquiries into policy, the curriculum and appropriate forms of
assessment, as well as developments in method such as electronic modes of
scholarship and course delivery.
· Publish articles about both the interface between research and
teaching in the subject in question and the transformational purposes of a
higher education.
· Promote re-conceptualization of arts and humanities disciplines in
ways that reflect, and reflect upon, teaching.
International and Multidisciplinary
Arts and Humanities in Higher Education will be international in that it
will seek, wherever possible, to publish material from authors with an
international reputation, and articles that are of interest to an
international audience.
The journal welcomes contributions from educators in any discipline or
interdisciplinary field of the Arts and Humanities in Higher Education
(e.g.: art, design, art history; classical studies; communications,
cultural, film and media studies; gender studies; history; literatures;
English language; modern foreign languages; museum studies; music;
performance arts; philosophy; religious studies), and from adjacent and
related fields such as sociology, politics and education.
