RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides formal leadership for the Art and
Architecture Libraries. Develops and nurtures relationships with
faculty for collection development, instructional, and reference
services. Works closely with staff to develop, implement, evaluate and
improve services and facilities. Serves as subject librarian for Art
History and Archaeology. Supervises the non-exempt staff of the Art and
Architecture Libraries (4 FTE) and guides the work of 3 subject
librarians in collaboration with members of the Arts and Humanities
Team. Provides leadership, in conjunction with library and university
development staff, in external relations for donor cultivation in
support of collections, services, and facilities. Participates as
member of the Arts and Humanities Team and of other teams as work and
interest indicate. Provides general and in-depth reference assistance
and instruction. Represents the Art and Architecture Libraries on
various leadership groups.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited Masters degree in library
science; reference, instruction, and collection development experience
in art, art history or archaeology in a large academic or research
library; in-depth knowledge of the literature of art, art history and
archaeology; familiarity with information technology; demonstrated
ability to work effectively and creatively in a collaborative,
participatory team environment; demonstrated ability to interact
effectively with faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates;
evidence of strong public services orientation and communication
skills. Preferred: advanced degree in art history;
leadership/management experience; familiarity with the literature of
architecture.
