Dear Mary,
I ordered this set which recently arrived. While I haven't
reviewed the set extensively, I do feel comfortable in saying
that the major flaw of the set is that there are absolutely
no footnotes, no bibliography or documentation to support the
author's encyclopedia style entries. Illustrations are black
and white photographs taken by the author. Without scholarly
documentation, a historian probably wouldn't use it for more than
ideas for lesser known towns and monuments. The photographs are
adequate, not inspiring.
