Hello,
I am working in a small conservatory college for filmmakers and
photographers. Our film collection is woefully underdeveloped. As I bring
new items and new ideas into our library and Learning Center, I think it
important to look at previous developed media libraries or other film
collections. Our budget only allows for dvd and vhs copies of films. I am
not a librarian, my background in Learning Centers and individual non-profit
film history organizations whose "libraries" were effective but informal. I
am looking for suggestions of articles, books, or other resources that I can
read to help me better understand how to work with media collections and how
to develop a medial library plan. I have lots of ideas and have collected
some information already but it's always good to have multiple resources and
I would like to include the information in a report I am working on so there
is some evidence of past successes with similar organizations who have
already gone through the development stage and have successfully
incorporated a media library into their facility. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Please send your ideas or suggestions to Kim at
