Dear Members,
I wanted to let you know that the new peer-reviewed scholarly e-journal
Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide, sponsored by the CAA-affiliated group, the
Association of Historians of Nineteenth-Century Art (AHNCA) is now available
online. Please feel free to read it/look at it at:
HTTP://19thc-ArtWorldwide.org and to spread the word to other interested
parties.
The topics in the first issue range from personifications of Alsace and
Lorraine, the Russian Repin and author Gogol, and representations of nation
and motherhood in Italy, to trompe l'oeil, popular culture, tourism and art,
Pugin's Mt. St. Bernard Abbey project and zoological fantasy and clothing
design. Submissions for the second issue are due to the editor March 15th
for a September arrival date.
In order to anticipate at least some of your questions about subscription
costs, institutional licensing, and password protection, the editors of the
journal have decided to keep the journal free of subscription costs to
individuals and institutions through 2002. Details will follow eventually on
what will happen after 2002.
We are beginning what I now realize is the arduous process of getting it well
publicized in relevant listservs and abstracting publications such as BHA and
Kunstkronik. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would be most grateful.
Many thanks,
Sura Levine
