Although it is not listed in the preliminary conference program, the
ARLIS/NA Collection Development Discussion Group WILL be meeting in St.
Louis. The group is scheduled for Friday evening, from 5:30-7:00
P.M. Please note that in the preliminary program, the time slot from
5:00-7:00 is scheduled for the Collection Development Committee; however,
this is in fact a joint meeting of that committee and the Discussion
Group. The committee meeting will last only until 5:30, and the remainder
of the time will be devoted to the discussion.
As we did last year, we would like to solicit proposed topics for
discussion in advance. We will try devote about half the meeting to a
single discussion topic, and the remainder to a "round robin" discussion of
any other topics that may come up.
If there is a collection development topic you would like to see discussed,
please send your proposal directly to me (not to ARLIS-L) by February
15. You will not be asked to lead the discussion, and you will be under no
obligation to even say anything at the meeting if your topic is chosen for
the focus. However, you will be given the opportunity, if you wish, to
talk about the topic for a few minutes to get us started. No pressure--honest!
Thanks
Tim Shipe
