It is with great pleasure that I can tell you that Clayton Kirking has
accepted the position of Chief, Art Information Resources here at New York
Public Library. In his new position at NYPL, Clayton will oversee staff,
collection development, and public services in the Art & Architecture
Collection. His responsibilities will include a special emphasis on access
to art resources in a networked environment and the creation of an Art &
Architecture component of the Wallach Digital Gallery.
I continue as Curator here, and am charged with the scholarly exploitation
of the Collection: this includes exhibition preparation (with two
exhibitions forthcoming), and project management, including work on the
Library's Visual Treasures Digital Project and the Library's works of fine
art, along with teaching in our new South Court Training Center.
I know that you will join me in appreciation of the fact that Clayton has
been lured back into art librarianship after his recent move to arts
administration. Once Clayton gets here, he will be contacting this listserv
directly with his new address, telephone, et al.
I must say that this is wonderful news to report from a city which has not
had a lot to be happy about since this fall.
