Between 1963 and 1985 the National Gallery of Canada published a journal containing articles on works in its collection and other fine arts subjects. Long out of print, this valuable resource has now been digitised for the web by the National Gallery of Canada Library. Illustrations are included where copyright allows, and subject access is offered through an electronic version of the Index to the National Gallery of Canada Bulletin and Annual Bulletin (published in the Library's Occasional Papers series). Articles were intended to appeal "not only to interested scholars and historians but also to the growing public which enjoys and appreciates the arts". Subjects include mythological painting, Canadian book illustration, photographs by Tom Thomson, conservation, and modern Gothic architecture in Canada, as well as artists such as Simone Martini, Cezanne, Klimt, Borduas and Alex Colville.
The digital version of the National Gallery of Canada Bulletin and Annual Bulletin is hosted on the Canada's Digital Collections site of Industry Canada, who helped fund the project: http://collections.ic.gc.ca/bulletin/ .
