The Library of the Canadian Centre for Architecture has always kept book
jackets because we consider them to be part of the original bibliographical
unit. In our early years we separated them from the books while ensuring
that book and jacket could be reunited through an accession number; later,
when we found that archival-quality dust-jacket protectors were available,
we employed these and kept book and jacket together. Apart from the manifest
information they contain, they reflect an area of design history and of the
history of the book and printing, clearly worth preserving. All best,

Here at Pratt we've also kept the dust jackets on the books. They provide
added information and are important for their design; additionally, they
protect the books.
