Dear Colleagues -- Congratulations to those of you who have the
foresight to collect and conserve this valuable ephemeral repository.
Whether you save all dust jackets or have an evaluation procedure in
place to selectively save jackets, your patrons--both locally and via
interlibrary loan--are in your debt. Those of you who can not absorb
the staff and conservation costs associated with saving all dust
jackets might wish to consider saving jackets only on certain types
of publications (photography, graphic design, typography), or from
certain publishers (Arena Editions, Twin Palms Publishers -
Twelvetrees Press, Smart Art Press, etc.), or when notified by
colleagues of unique dust jacket situations (MOMA's Jackson Pollock
ex. cat.). Regards, Peter Blank
