PALMM (Publication of Archival Library & Museum Materials), a digital
project of the State University System of Florida, has released this new
fantastic database that I thought some of you might find of interest. The
Ringling Collection is comprised of digitized cabinet cards, postcards and
photographs of 19th Century American and British actors and actresses. The
Collection is one of several housed in the Belknap Collection for the
Performing Arts in the Smathers Libraries' Department of Special
Collections on the campus to the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL).
The URL is

More information on this and other collections is below.

>NEW PALMM COLLECTIONS
>
>Two new PALMM collections have been moved to production status: Florida
>Geological Survey Publications (http://palmm.fcla.edu/fgs/) and the
>Ringling Collection
>(http://web.uflib.ufl.edu/digital/collections/theatre/ringling/index.htm).
>
>The Florida Geological Survey Publications consists of FGS publications
>including Bulletins, Reports and Maps. All of the materials are digitized
>as page images but some can also be searched as full-text.
>
>The Ringling Collection contains more than 6000 images of more than 3000
>19th century British and American actors and actresses. The original
>collection is housed in the Belknap Collection for the Performing Arts in
>the Smathers Libraries' Department of Special Collections at the University
>of Florida.
>
>FLORIDA HERITAGE
>
>The Florida Heritage Collection was featured in the Fall 2001 issue of
>Florida History & the Arts, a supplement to Florida Trend Magazine.
>
>COMBINED SEARCHING IMPLEMENTED
>
>Catalog searches at UF, UNF, USF, FIU, and UWF now include an automatic
>search of QF as well as the insitution's own database. QF is the file
>which contains cataloging for the electronic resources in Florida Heritage
>and other digital collections. Since these materials are virtually part of
>everyone's collection, it makes sense to include them in home catalog
>searches. If you are interested in implementing this combined search
>capability at your institution, have your DSPC representative contact
>Elaine Henjum ([log in to unmask]).
