Hello Barbara and ARLIS-L:
As a starting point, you might direct the professor to the CNN website,
scroll down to the Maps/Interactives index or you can go directly to
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/trade.center/interactives.html
This area of the CNN website contains both a map of the area with the
buildings indicated and a 3-d map with a damage report among many other
maps.
Also, you might suggest a New York City guidebook. These have detailed
street maps. Fodor's has detailed maps of different areas of Manhattan
which might focus closely enough. Also, the guide books may give building
heights, at least for the 2 World Trade Center towers. Some of the earlier
CNN stories included the height in feet I think so the professor could
look at the website and go back to the first 2 or 3 days' reports.
