Dear Shelly
As an international orientated Institute we too have problems with other
languages, especially the not so often used languages like Catalan, Russian,
Finnish and so on.
From our visitors from abroad, visiting us to study Dutch artists, we expect
some knowledge of the Ducth language but for the use of for instance
collection-catalogues from Russia, Finland, Catalonia and so on we advise
them to use common dictionaries as welll as some specialised multi-lingual
dictionaries like:
Dictionarium museologicum = dictionary of museology = dictionnaire
de museologie = ....
[chief ed. Istvan Eri ; Lucas Wüthrich]
Budapest, Hungarian Esperanto Association, 1986.
ISBN 963-571-174-3
This dictionary is in 20 languages! A bit old, but perhaps still
available?
And of course as art libarians we can use the
Multilingual glossary for art librarians. Ed. by the IFLA section of
Art Libraries. 2nd rev. and enl. ed.
München, Saur, 1996. (IFLA Publications, 75)
ISBN 3-598-21802-8
Still available at Saur: DM 73.50
