Valerie-
I've sent you some records from SCIPIO to get you started. Check with RLG
customer service (www.rlg.org) to find institutions that have access
available to the SCIPIO - Art Auction Catalog database.

I have been given a request for for early auction
prices/records of Cassatt and Sargent paintings. The
earliest data that has been found is from 1987, which
reflects only the prices these artists command in a
mature market. As the research continues, searches
would expand from Cassatt and Sargent to American
impressionists and late 19th century European artists.
Information desired includes: title of painting,
dimensions, media, year painted, year sold, auction
house, price estimates, and hammer price. Does anyone
know where we should start looking? Any help would be
most appreciated.
