Hello ARLIS Listserv recipients!
My name is Jon Cartledge, and I'm the new Visual Resource Librarian at
MassArt. This is my first posting, so hopefully it will get to you
without much trouble.
We're reviewing our circulation policies and procedures for our slide
collection, and we were wondering how everyone else handled the
circulation of their collection. In particular, we're concerned with the
check-out and check-in of material, as well as the tracking of slides
while their out. As it stands, we have a system in which slides are
photocopied and the patron fills out a form, which is filed under patron
name. Unfortunately, this process can be unwieldy, and some of our
faculty have problems with this setup. We currently have no barcodes in
place and have a filemaker database for our acquistions in the last few
years.
Any information on how you library circulate slides, and, if you are
comfortable sending them, policies or procedures regarding slides, would
be a great help to us as we review our system and consider alternatives.
If you know any articles on the subject, that would be a great help as
well. Thanks for your time!
Jon Cartledge
