Here's my two pence worth all the way from New Zealand: I agree
wholeheartedly with Shannon's point of view that "EVERYbody's
experience is unique and valid".
I would like to bring to your attention an article I wrote which
addresses this issue as I see it, entitled:
What does it mean to be a 'professional' art librarian?: 'existential'
versus 'ideal'.
This is the text of a paper presented to the ARLIS/ANZ Conference,
Sydney, in August 1995. You can find it in Art Libraries Journal, vol.
21, no. 2, 1996, p. 4-8.
Sincere best wishes to absolutely everybody, including Mr and Mrs
Ditchburn!
