Hello, all!
I am very pleased to post this announcement on behalf of friend and local
Atlanta book artist, David Laufer. This catalog is a wonderful evocation of
David's unique book/sculptures and would make a terrific addition to any
collection dealing with artists' books. Its production values are
meticulous and it is almost an artist's book in its own right.
All the best,
Moira Steven

The Shelley Holzemer Gallery is pleased to offer a limited edition of color
catalogs of the work of Atlanta book artist David Laufer.
Laufer makes one of a kind book sculptures, carved from wood and
meticulously hand painted to look like real books. The titles, graphics, and
subjects are all fictitious, and the subjects are by turns ironic, comic,
serious and sardonic. The show "Who¹s Who in Megalomania" is named for one
of the works, a book object satirizing our collective mania for directories,
with all their trappings of fame, importance and self aggrandizement.
For an on-line review of the exhibition by Minneapolis art critic Jennifer
Amie, please see <http://www.mspmag.com/gallery.asp>
For information on Laufer's exhibition at Shelley Holzemer Gallery, please

The 28 page catalog sells for $30, which includes postage and handling. The
publication features 18 full color reproductions, transcripts of the satiric
texts of each work, an essay by New York art critic Robert Mahoney, a photo
montage of the artist's studio "Frog Holler" and background about the
artist. The catalog is saddle stitched, 8.5" square, the catalog was
produced under the supervision of the artist and digitally printed in an
edition consisting of 200 signed and numbered copies.
