SALARY: DS-09 $31,754.00 - $40,907.00
DS-11 $38,274.00 - $49,335.00
per annum
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Unlimited
HOURS: 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. and as scheduled within
the weekday hours, Saturdays as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: DS-9: A Master's Degree in Library
Science is required. Training and/or education in one or
more of the subject areas of visual arts is desirable.
DS-11: In addition to the requirements for a DS-9, one
year of experience at a DS-9 level in the 1410 Librarian
series or equivalent experience. All applicants must
present a combination of experience, education, skills,
and self-development, which demonstrates the capacity
to perform the duties of the position.
FUNCTIONS: Under the general supervision of the Chief,
Art Division, the incumbent furnishes reference and
advisory service to Library customers; guides customers
in the use of special catalogs, on-line catalog, automated
reference sources, world wide web; assists in developing
the Division's visual arts collection, including books,
catalogs, periodicals and other visual arts materials as
assigned; reviews books and other materials and
recommends titles for consideration for branch purchase;
makes extensive searches of special sources to locate
relevant materials best suited to the collection and the
customer needs and interests; prepares paper and
electronic handouts and finding guides to help facilitate
the use of the Library and its visual arts collection;
creates specialized indexes; develops partnerships with
the arts community and actively participates in community
outreach. Performs other related duties as assigned.
