I wanted to let all those ARLIS members with whom I have worked so
happily since 1980, that I have resigned my position as Director of the
Adam and Sophie Gimbel Design Library at Parsons School of Design. At
the end of this month I will begin at the Alliance for the Arts, here in
Manhattan, as the Director of the Estate Project for Artists with AIDS.
While my new position is not within a library, I will be working
directly with libraries, archives and museums.
The various forms of ARLIS I have known: ARLIS/NA/NW/AZ&NYC have
brought me many great friends, experiences, and memories. Apart from all
of the career and professional doors it has opened, picture a chapter
meeting near Benson, AZ, at the Singing Winds Book Store: a book store
in a farm house, on a working ranch, a picnic, with fresh tomatoes warm
from Win Bundy's garden. How much better can that be?!
Anyway, I will stay in touch and keep tabs on ARLIS, in fact, I will no
doubt be calling on some of you for help and advice.
It has been grand, and I am certain it will only get better for the
organization, the profession and all the members that make it what it
is.
Cheers!
Clayton
