To: ARLIS list readers
Our library has a copy of E. Muybridge's, Animals in Motion, published in 1925 by Chapman & Hall, Ltd., London (our copy is the fifth impression). The original copyright date for this title is 1899.
Opposite the title page is a port. of Muybridge. On the same page, in the lower right corner, outside the margin of Muybridge's picture and inscribed at an angle are the words- faithfully yours Eadweard Muybridge. I'm wondering if this is a real autograph or if it's a facsimile of his handwriting that was printed as part of the book? Muybridge died long before the 1925 pub. date.
Does anyone out there have a copy of this book that they could look at and tell me if this 'signature' appears in theirs as well?
Thank you,
Kay Streng
