I have been tempted a few times to respond to mass distribution of full-text
articles via this listserv, which I find shocking considering we are
librarians and charged with being familiar with and upholding copyright law.
While certain areas of fair use are a bit murky, I think it's pretty clear
that posting any copyrighted material (without publisher permission)to a
list such as ARLIS-L is not fair use.
I hope we can get back into the pre-full-text habit of summarizing the
content of articles of interest and citing them appropriately so that anyone
who wants to follow up can do so--through their own licensed databases,
print subscriptions, or even Interlibrary Loan.
