I'm not a mystery buff, but one of my colleagues, Robert Fleck, of Oak Knoll Books, New Castle, Delaware, an antiquarian specialist in "Books About Books" as well as a publisher and distributor of scholarly books in the field, is an expert on "Biblio-Mysteries" (mysteries regarding lost or stolen books, librarian homicides, etc.), and he should be able to give you some suggested readings, as some years ago he even published a special catalogue on biblio-mysteries. I'm sure some of these include mysteries relating to the Fine Arts.
