Hello All,
Here at Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine, the main library(not the
Art Library, unfortunately) is undergoing a renovation, and we are not
closing for any of it--so obviously the working conditions, study
conditions, etc are fall from perfect. But when a large temporary wall
had to be constructed in the reading/reference area , a plan was born.
One of the art professors, his class, and library staff all worked
together to plan and execute a huge
mural on that wall, and the work/play was done this week-all the
painting took place in a giant 'paint-by-number' mode, and as the work
progressed, the work was photographed and filmed in digital form and
loaded immediately during the day on the Library Web page...
Since I have never seen anything like this before, I thought I would
invite you all to take a look at this wonderful 'event'--it seems to
combine visual art, libraries, and the digital
age nicely. It was also a colorful way to get past the 16 inch snowstorm
/whiteout we had the day before...
Enjoy!
