Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Linda D. Heslin is the recipient of the 2001
Kress Fellowship in Art Librarianship at Yale University. Ms. Heslin
recently received her M.S.LIS from C.W. Post, Long Island University. Since
graduating from library school, Ms. Heslin has taught information
instruction and provided user reference services for undergraduate and
graduate curriculums in the liberal arts, with a specialization in Art
History. For the past year she has been participating in re-cataloging (in
the OCLC CORC database) the Carnegie “Arts of the U.S” image collection, a
digital project coordinated by the University of Georgia Library.
Prior to entering the field of information and library science, Ms. Heslin
held administrative, marketing, and research positions in the art field,
including positions at Sotheby’s and Phillips Auction Houses, the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Heckscher Museum. She was also
formerly a vice president at two New York banks, responsible for market
research and project development. She has served on numerous boards and
committees of museums and historical societies. In addition to her library
degree, she also holds the M.A. and M.Ed. from Columbia University.
Ms. Heslin’s Fellowship pursuits will involve a research study of slide
collecting patterns in visual resources collections and image use by art
historians and other practitioners in the material and visual culture
fields. This research will inform the imaging initiatives with which Yale
is engaged.
Thank you.
