Dear Colleagues,
A hot issue for the faculty is whether this library should become an
entirely non-circulating collection (we do have some Princeton people
teaching here). The faculty are divided on this matter. I have no
experience with academic libraries that are entirely non-circulating and
can only imagine the implications on space, services, users, the
collection, etc.
I would really appreciate hearing from the voice of experience about
pros, cons, etc. Also, is anyone aware of standards/formulas that
address the issue of space for entirely non-circulating collections
(i.e. square footage per student enrolled). I expect study space would
have to be drastically increased. If you prefer, you may reply to me
directly.
Thank you in advance!
