I don't know how "small" your problem is, but my experiences dealing
with floods may be of some help. First of all, you need to freeze the wet
books immediately Pack them into milk crates, spine down, fairly loosely.
Then you need to find a professional freeze-dry company. Call your
colleagues in the LA area. Once you get your books back from the
freeze-dryer, then you will have to evaluate your books to determine whether
you need to hire a book conservator. Most library binders have preservation
departments that could help. All of this should be charged to the insurance
company. I hope that this is useful.
