TITLE: General Reference Librarian
DEPARTMENT: Library
JOB DUTIES: The General Reference Librarian provides general
reference assistance and instruction in subject areas complementing the
curricula in art, design, architecture, and library and information
science. This is a full-time tenure-track position at the
Assistant/Associate Professor rank.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serve as part of the information services and instructional team in the
Library. Participate in the Library's collection development program.
Serve as part of a team of library liaisons to classroom instructional
departments. Coordinate topical workshops and general clinics related to
the curriculum. Service and develop collections of special materials,
including maps and archives. Make appropriate referrals for government
generated information and other specialized social sciences, humanities
and sciences information sources within and outside the Library's
collections. Participate in faculty training. Formulate and implement
models of assessment and reporting outcomes each semester. Participate
in Library-related projects and Institute-wide committees and perform
all other related duties as required.
SALARY: Faculty rank and salary commensurate with qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS: An ALA accredited M.L.S. and experience in bibliographic
instruction , library public service and use of on-line systems are
required. Applicants must also have broad general knowledge of social
sciences, humanities and sciences. Problem-solving abilities, strong
communications skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range
of people are essential. Knowledge of art, architecture and design is a
plus.

TITLE: Evening and Weekend Public Services Librarian
DEPARTMENT: Library
JOB DUTIES: Provide information and reference services to support
extended service hours programs and maintain library outreach programs
to classroom faculty and students. This is a full-time tenure-track
position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
Serve, with other library faculty, as part of the information services
and instructional team. Act as part of a team of library liaisons to the
Institute's classroom instructional departments; coordinate and
participate in efforts to work with classroom faculty in designing
projects with strong, effective information seeking and analysis
components. Coordinate topical workshops and general clinics related to
the curriculum. Fill in as needed during peak service periods or during
the absence of other library faculty members. Participate in the
Library's collection development program. Assist the academic community
with the integration of the Library's electronic resources with other
electronic infrastructure Institute-wide. Develop measures of
effectiveness of activities designed to support information literacy.
Participate in Library-related projects and Institute-wide committee and
perform all other duties as required.
