The Smithsonian American Art Museum is pleased to announce
the appointment of Cynthia Mills as the new executive editor
of its journal, American Art. Dr. Mills, a specialist in
nineteenth-century American sculpture, was guest editor of
the journal's Winter 2000 issue. She received her Ph.D. in
art history from the University of Maryland. The
peer-reviewed journal is published three times per year, and
includes a mix of commentaries, feature articles and shorter
pieces. Editorial Board members include: William Agee,
Hunter College; Sarah Burns, Indiana University; Wayne
Craven, University of Delaware; Karal Ann Marling,
University of Minnesota; Eugene Metcalf, Miami University;
Sally Promey, University of Maryland; Jules Prown, Yale
University; Sidra Stich, ArtSites, San Francisco; Robert
Sklar, New York University; and John Wilmerding, Princeton
University.
