Dear colleagues, next week will see the New York Public Library's Art
& Architecture Collection moving from its original home since 1911 in
Room 313 of the Humanities & Social Science Library, Research
Libraries, at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue. We will be open with
limited public service on Tuesday and Wednesday the 7th and 8th; some
books will be in transit at that time. On Thursday Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.,
the Wallach Art & Architecture Reading Room opens in its new quarters,
Room 300, at the south end of the Rose Main Reading Room South Hall
(formerly the reading room for U.S. Local History and Geneology, now
in Room 121). This room was beautifully renovated by the Davis, Brody,
Bond firm with funds from our patrons, Miriam and Ira D. Wallach. The
ceiling alone is a true work of art. Telephone numbers will remain the
same.
