I would very much appreciate your listing the following newly issued
catalogue on your list-serve:
MERLE ARMITAGE COLLECTION. Catalogue 51.
A collection of ninety-six books designed by Armitage (between 1929 and
1974) and ten related ephemeral items. Twelve of the books or dustjackets
are signed/inscribed by Armitage and several are signed by the artists,
authors, or other contributors. The collection is offered en bloc.
Merle Armitage (1893-1975) was a one-man cultural dynamo: an
impresario, a theatre manager and set designer, a graphic artist and book
designer, a writer, a publisher, and an epicure. His experiences and
friendships from other spheres influenced his choice of book projects, and
resulted in books on the work of many under-appreciated artists,
photographers, and musicians. A number of his earlier books contained
original prints by artists such as Jean Charlot, Henrietta Shore, Warren
Newcombe, Richard Day, Napolitano, and Millard Sheets.
Catalogue available on request.
Thank you for your consideration.
With regards,
Carol Fruchter
