Mario:
It was great to get your good news about the expanded Heard Museum Library
and about the celebration. I wish I could be there, but unfortunately I
cannot. However, I wanted to mention to you that Harry Fonseca has agreed to
be on a panel that Marilyn Russell-Bogle and I have put together for the
conference in Los Angeles next year. The panel will be on Native American
contemporary art. Besides being a wonderful artist, I have heard that Harry
is a really good speaker and is a very nice person. Margaret Wood exhibited
in an exhibition I co-produced at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in 1992. I
was able to spend some time with her and enjoyed her company very much. All
of these people are terrific artists and I know you will have a very
wonderful celebration. Please tell Harry about ARLIS for us and let him know
what a worthwhile organization we are. I hope that you will be able to
attend the L.A. conference.
One of my best ARLIS memories is of a regional meeting that was held in
Phoenix sometime in the eighties. I still remember how impressed I was with
your library--and I remember that you needed some space. I'm really glad you
finally got it. Congratulation and best wishes!
