Public Services Librarian (Access Services)—Search Extended
The Morton R. Godine Library seeks a dynamic, service-oriented librarian
to coordinate all access services including circulation, interlibrary
loan, reserves, and facility/stacks management. This position, Public
Services Librarian (Coordinator A), requires regular hands-on desk
service provision in addition to oversight. As a co-coordinator of the
Public Services Team, this position will share responsibility for the
planning, implementation, and problem-solving of all public service
functions (circulation, interlibrary loan, reserves, reference,
bibliographic instruction, computer lab) and will act as primary back-up
for reference and bibliographic instruction.
The Library is finalizing an organizational transition to a team
leadership environment. All MassArt librarians share responsibility for
collaborative decision making, problem solving, policy/procedure
writing, planning, staff training, supervision, and collection
development. This is a faculty, tenure-track position.
Required qualifications: MLS or equivalent, background in the visual
arts (BFA, BA in Art Education or Art History, and/or advanced arts
related degree preferred), a minimum of 1-2 years of professional
experience in key areas of responsibility. Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills. Supervisory experience and demonstrated
leadership ability. This search has been extended—resume review will
begin November 10, 2000. Starting date ASAP. Open until filled. Salary
commensurate with experience.
