Technical Services Coordinator
The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute Library invites applications
for the position of Technical Services Coordinator. Reporting to the
Collections Management Librarian, the Technical Services Coordinator will
work with the Collections Management staff to develop various methods for
standardization of metadata from diverse sources and library collections.
The Technical Services Coordinator will serve as the lead person
responsible for the database management and authority control in the
library's online catalog (Innovative Interfaces) and online slide catalog
(ARGUS). The Technical Services Coordinator will serve as the library's
ArtNACO coordinator and will act as liason to RLIN, Innovative Interfaces,
and Questor and will coordinate ongoing and special projects with the
Institute's Manager of Information Services. Additional duties include
preparing original cataloging records, coordinating special format
cataloging projects, setting policies and procedures, maintaining
statistics, and ensuring training of librarians and support staff.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree in art history, fine
arts, or architecture; an accredited MLS or equivalent; two to five years
experience in a museum or university library; strong working knowledge of
digital imaging technologies; strong knowledge of relevant digital library
and visual resources standards; working knowledge of one or more western
European languages; detailed knowledge of current cataloging tools,
including VRA Core Categories, Getty vocabularies, AACR2R, LC
Classification and LCSH, ArtNACO, and USMARC formats; working experience
with RLIN and an integrated library system. The ideal candidate will also
demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills;
strong commitment to excellence in service; flexibility and ability to work
creatively in a collaborative and rapidly changing environment.
